- Student's grades are based on different types of assessments:
- Homework
- Homework is generally assigned 2 to 3 times per week
- Homework is generally due the day after it is assigned
- Homework may be turned in after the due date as one of the following
- Make-up work - student was absent either the day the homework was assigned or the day it was corrected
- Student has 2 school days after returning to turn in the assignment with no penalty
- After the 2 day grace period, assignment will lose credit the same as late work
- Late work - student was not absent - late penalty will apply
- Late work loses 1 point for every day it is late up to 50%
- Late work can always be turned in for a minimum of 50% of earned points - until work deadline at ends of term
- Re-work - students can re-work assignments - correcting missed questions to earn up to 100% credit
- Make-up work - student was absent either the day the homework was assigned or the day it was corrected
- Quizzes
- Quizzes should happen about every 1 to 3 weeks, depending on the unit
- Students may re-take quizzes to improve scores
- Tests
- Tests should happen about every chapter or unit - this may vary
- Students may re-take tests to improve scores
- Participation
- A student's participation shows his or her attitude toward learning
- A student's attitude toward learning is a key part of learning - it is often far more important than a student's abilities
- To encourage proper attitudes and behaviors, participation is a part of a student's grade
- Homework
- Grades are 'Weighted' - a 10point quiz will effect a student's grade more than a 10 point assignment
- Weights of different assessments will reflect the amount of the course the assessment covers
- The 'weight values' will vary by class and can be seen on the 'Grade Breakdowns' page
